Finally I made time to listen to a recording of an interview with Joseph Marcel and Roger Griffiths. I won’t explain who they are but suffice to say, the interviews with both interesting and amusing (visit the colourful radio web site and navigate to the section ‘colourful talks to…’.

Anyway as a result of the radio interviews I managed to see the show (‘radio golf’, tricycle theatre london) and enjoyed it. My only criticisms are the american setting and in my opinion the excessive profanity.

Yep you guessed it, a quotation from the best rapper of all time krs one. Last week (08-09-08) I listened to the so called resident cultural critic Lindsay Johns talk about the best rappers and totally ignore the mighty krs! And then justify this dis respect by quoting ’13 and good’ as being questionable! I was astounded, but not surprised: so many people claim to love “conscious” hiphop and then ignore my favourite rapper.

Enough ranting. So far I’ve been locked onto colourful, to the detriment of solar and the ubiquitous bbc. I’m pleasantly surprised with the new speech programme presenters: Ms Laryea; Mr Johns; Mr Salim (is he no more?). The music shows are brilliant, Mr Lawrence, Dave VJ, Mr Jones, Stretch stand out so far. I should include Mr Mac, but in truth I haven’t managed to listen yet!

Good to hear the return of colourful radio. My first opinions of this past week? The music shows have been good, like the reggae and as I write the gospel. As for the speech programmes, unfortunately Mr Bonsu remains the only presenter of interest. I wonder how long the others will last, since none of the previous speech presenters survived. Early days though…
